Who am I?

Over the past 25 years in international journalism, radio, TV and video production in the broadcast and online spheres, I was amongst others a specialist agricultural and science journalist, as well as TV and online content producer, production and project manager, trainer and researcher. My experience entails working in front and behind the camera and microphone, as well as in print media. I conceptualised and created content for various platforms, purposes, genres and audiences. In the process, I not only gained understanding of how the industries which I covered work, but also obtained specialised insight in the how various content formats, mediums and platforms work and interact within the bigger context of media and communication strategies and industry.

My skills base include research, directing, planning, scripting, voice-over work, on-camera presenting, sound and video recording and editing and postproduction work. My extensive media and communications experience refined my natural aptitude for various technical and soft skills essential to me being an efficient researcher, content creator, consultant, trainer, administrator, planner, organiser, project manager, client liaison, communicator, as well as a translator.

I served as a guest lecturer, external examiner and moderator for honours and master’s degree students in my fields of expertise Potchefstroom University in South Africa (now North-West University) and the Boston Media House, a private tertiary educational establishment.

I’ve obtained a MA B1usiness Communication degree cum laude from the North-West University in South Africa. I am fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans. I am also fully conversational in German, as well as able to read and understand Dutch.

I'm passionate about opportunities that will allow me to apply my array of skills and add value beyond the media industry in research, content creation, storytelling, training and project management.

I love challenges and am always keen on learning!
